j'avais déjà mentionné qu'on pèse plus lourd lorsqu'on est inquiet...
You Are what You Think
A recent edition of Psychosomatic Medicine relayed a study from Quebec, Canada, which indicated that thinking can make you fatter.
Well actually what you think about and how you think about can make you fatter, apparently.
What they found in testing is that intense thinking like you might do during test taking puts you into a stressful mood. And we all know that stress changes our chemistry. In so doing, the brain asks for more carbs to fuel more intense thinking.
Carbs are sugar. Sugar changes cortisol, insulin and leptin levels. Before you know it, you are looking for a quick ‘sugar high.’ The brain apparently has an affinity for sugar. We often interpret this cry for sugar as some junk food.
Actually, high quality proteins and complex carbs will give the body a chance to process them both and then supply the brain with the appropriate sugar. However when stressed, the panic signals come from the brain quickly and all too often cheap and easy sugars fill the bill. This changes body chemistry for the worst.
This makes you fatter. Not just your brain but your body as well. In fact, many believe that virtually all of the neurological disease (Alzheimer’s, Lou Gerhig’s, etc.) are the results of life long sugar addictions (pastries, pastas, breads, alcohol, etc.).
